TierOne Bank was originally organized in 1907 under the name of Fidelity Savings and Loan Association. In 1935, it received a federal charter and insurance of accounts, and the name was changed to First Federal Savings and Loan Association of Lincoln. In 1995, a federal savings bank charter was granted, and the institution became First Federal Lincoln Bank.
By 2002, the bank had literally outgrown its name. To better reflect its progressive and innovative spirit and its promise to customers to deliver top-level service, the Bank became TierOne Bank on February 10, 2002.
